752 temporarily back as 11305 9th June 2024
For this day Saddletank 752 temporarily took on the identity of Horwich Works service loco 11305 in a tribute to the late Harvey Scowcroft, running between Bury and Ramsbottom on the East Lancashire Railway during which Harvey’s ashes were consiged to the firebox whilst running past Burrs Country Park Station.
John Sagar (whose photo shows the assembled party at Burrs Country Park) reports –
“There was a very civilized commemoration of Harvey’s life this morning, with 752 working the GWR saloon from Bury to Ramsbottom and back for about 20 guests. Passengers remained on the platform at Burrs Country Park whilst 752 went for a vigorous sprint past the caravan park as the ashes were placed in the firebox. It then reversed to pick us up for the continuation to Ramsbottom.”
